Raiders named League 1 Club of the Year
We are proud to confirm that, at this evening’s RFL End of Season Awards, Barrow Raiders were revealed as the Betfred League 1 Club of the Year.
There was no joy for Tee Ritson who was nominated in the League 1 Player of the Year and Our League Entertainer of the Year categories or Jamie Dallimore who was also nominated for League 1 Player of the Year. We are none the less proud of their nominations and deserved recognition.
York City Knights and Barrow Raiders were recognised as Clubs of the Year for Betfred Championship and League 1 respectively – in each case for their off-field dynamism which has led to increased attendances and especially successful seasons for their Women’s teams, with York also reaching Wembley in the 1895 Cup and Barrow securing the League Leaders’ Shield and with it automatic promotion to the Championship in 2022.
From a year which started with games behind closed doors, the Club progressed seeing the Men’s team securing the League 1 title and the Barrow Ladies reaching their Grand Final this coming Sunday.
This award is recognition for everyone at the Club who has pulled on a jersey, the backroom staff and those who have worked relentlessly to make our Club a success. We have fantastic partners and sponsors who have backed the Club and our Community team have delivered a wide range of programmes across schools and the local community.
To our fans, thank you so much for your support. Your loyalty to Barrow Raiders is unparalleled. We look forward to seeing you in 2022 and providing you with Championship level Rugby League.
The supporters and wider community have got behind the Ladies’ team this season and we look to make great strides together in the coming year.
This has been a year like we’ve never known before but we are so much more than eighty minutes of rugby at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium once a fortnight. We are proud of our community and we will all continue to work hard throughout the next few weeks and months to ensure that Barrow Raiders continues to thrive in 2022.
