Barrow Raiders beat Sheffield Eagles in Championship opener

Barrow Raiders marked their return to the Betfred Championship with a hard-fought 22-10 victory over Sheffield Eagles.

In front of almost 2,000 fans at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium, the Raiders opened up an 18-10 half-time lead and produced a stern defensive display in the second half, keeping the visitors scoreless and extending their advantage thanks to two penalty goals from Ryan Shaw.

Ellis Gillam, Tee Ritson and Hakim Miloudi scored for the hosts, with Ben Jones-Bishop and Anthony Thackeray scoring in response.
