Barrow Raiders made it two wins from two in pre-season after defeating Workington Town 24-12 at the Northern Competitions Stadium.
It was another valuable run-out for Paul Crarey’s side, played in difficult conditions akin to Tuesday’s 42-4 victory over Whitehaven.
The two teams went into half-time at 12-12, Workington tries scored either side of efforts from Brad Walker and Charlie Emslie.
But the Raiders stepped things up in the second half, Andrew Bulman scoring his third of pre-season nine minutes after the restart.
Dan Knott, another who has impressed so far during pre-season, extended the Raiders’ lead shortly after the hour mark, before another Raiders youngster, Trent Ruddy, scored his first senior try to wrap up the win four minutes from time.
Following back-to-back wins against Cumbrian opposition, the Raiders will now turn their attention to the visit of Betfred Super League side Salford Red Devils, who travel north on Saturday 18 January (2pm kick-off). Tickets for that fixture are available here.
