Barrow Raiders bowed out of the 1895 Cup at the quarter-final stage after falling to a 30-12 defeat to Wakefield Trinity at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.

A nightmare opening five minutes saw the Raiders fall 12-0 down as the hosts scored converted tries from Renouf Atoni and Max Jowitt.

Josh Griffin touched down shortly before half-time to stretch the lead to 18, leaving the Raiders with plenty to do in the second period.

Thirteen minutes after the break, Max Anderson-Moore jinked his way over on his competitive debut. However, a second of the afternoon for Atoni followed shortly after as Trinity restored their three-try cushion.

Anderson-Moore scored his second of the afternoon with six minutes to go, but the hosts would have the final say as Harvey Smith cut his way through to dive over.

For the Raiders, attention now turns to Round 1 of the Betfred Championship, where they will face Widnes Vikings at the DCBL Stadium on Sunday 17 March.

Tickets for that fixture can be purchased here, with away fans asked to buy their tickets in Block B of the South Stand.
