Barrow Raiders were left to count the cost of injury as they were beaten 40-18 by Halifax Panthers in the Betfred Championship.

Having lost influential half-back Jarrod Sammut to a serious-looking injury in the first half, the Raiders also finished the game without Ellis Gillam (calf) and Danny Langtree (bicep).

In the end, the hosts’ fresh legs and quality paid dividends as they ran in eight tries to record their fifth league win of the season.

In response, the Raiders crossed through Tee Ritson, his 12th of the season in all competitions, as well as captain Jarrad Stack, hooker Josh Wood and full-back Luke Cresswell.

Paul Crarey’s side will have a full week to prepare for their next league fixture; a home clash with third-placed York City Knights in front of the Premier Sports cameras.

The game will take place at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium on Monday 2 May, with kick-off at 7:45pm.
