Barrow Raiders recorded their fifth successive victory with a hard-fought 36-24 win over Widnes Vikings at the Betfred Championship Summer Bash.

Both teams came into the game boasting unbeaten records in July, with the Vikings yet to taste defeat under John Kear heading into the contest.

Their credentials were underlined by the 30-minute mark too, with Shane Toal’s early opener cancelled out by tries from Danny Craven, Olly Davies and Matty Fozard.

Hakim Miloudi collected Tee Ritson’s inside ball to reduce the deficit to 16-12 heading towards half-time, and the Raiders kicked on four minutes after the interval when Ritson crossed in the corner, with the boot of Ryan Shaw putting his side ahead.

Anton Iaria then capitalised on Jake Carter’s delicate grubber kick towards the posts to extend the advantage to 24-16.

Luis Roberts’ close-range intercept try set up a nervy final 20 minutes, but Jarrod Sammut went over under the posts before Ritson put the icing on the cake with a breakaway second in the final few minutes of the contest.
